You already know why you’re here.
You’ve done the research. You understand what mercury does at the cellular level. You know that no detox protocol — no chelation round, no binder, no supplement stack — will work the way it should while the source is still in your mouth.
Now you need a dentist who understands that too.
Dr. Roger Pint has been SMART certified since 2011 — one of the earliest dentists in Southwest Florida to earn this designation from the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology. He has worked with patients in every major detox and chelation program, and he understands exactly what your protocol requires before, during, and after amalgam removal.
We work with patients in these programs every day…and more.
Whether you’re preparing for your first chelation round or you’ve been told by your health coach that amalgam removal is your next step, we understand the specific requirements of your program:
The Pompa Program — Dr. Pompa’s cellular detox protocol requires safe amalgam removal and a cone beam scan before beginning the detox phases. We provide both. Our CBCT imaging identifies not just amalgam fillings but also potential hidden infections, bone pathology, and airway concerns — the full picture your coach needs to build your detox plan.
The Andy Cutler Protocol — The foundational rule of Cutler chelation is clear: never chelate with amalgams still in your mouth. We follow IAOMT SMART protocols that align with what the Cutler community expects — sectioning fillings into large chunks, minimizing drilling and vapor, rubber dam isolation, external oxygen, and activated charcoal rinses. We understand the urgency and the precision this protocol demands.
The Huggins-Grube Protocol — Dr. Huggins built the blueprint for full dental revision, and our approach honors that legacy. Sequential removal based on electrical readings, biocompatibility testing for replacement materials, and coordination with your integrative health team are all part of how we approach Huggins Protocol patients.
Quicksilver Scientific / MerProtect Protocol — Many of our patients use Dr. Chris Shade’s MerProtect kit as their pre- and post-removal detox support. We’re familiar with the timing and can coordinate your removal appointments to align with your MerProtect dosing schedule.
What your removal appointment looks like.
Every amalgam removal at Bonita Dental Studio follows the complete IAOMT SMART protocol. There are no shortcuts and no exceptions. Here is what we do to protect you:
Before the procedure, you rinse with activated charcoal or chlorella to bind any mercury before it can enter your system.
During the procedure, a non-latex rubber dam isolates the tooth and blocks mercury from reaching your throat. You breathe clean air or oxygen through a nasal mask — never mercury vapor. A high-volume oral aerosol vacuum with mercury filtration captures vapor at the source, inches from the tooth. Copious water irrigation controls heat, because heat increases vapor release. The filling is sectioned into large chunks and lifted out — not ground down into fine particulate.
After the procedure, your mouth is flushed thoroughly with water, and you rinse again with charcoal or chlorella to capture anything remaining.
Every step exists for one reason: your safety.
Biocompatible replacements — no metals, no BPA.
Once your amalgam fillings are removed, what goes back in matters just as much. We use BPA-free composite resin fillings and metal-free ceramic and zirconia crowns. No metals. No compromises. If your program requires biocompatibility testing to select materials specific to your body chemistry, we can accommodate that.
Cone beam imaging for the complete picture.
Many detox programs recommend or require a cone beam CT scan (CBCT) as part of your health assessment. Our in-office CBCT provides 3D imaging that reveals what standard x-rays cannot — hidden infections, jawbone pathology, root canal concerns, and airway anatomy. If your health coach or practitioner has asked you to obtain a cone beam scan, we can provide the imaging and the report they need.
We coordinate with your health team.
Your dentist shouldn’t operate in a silo — especially when you’re in an active detox program. We’re happy to communicate directly with your health coach, naturopath, functional medicine doctor, or integrative practitioner to ensure your dental work is timed and sequenced in a way that supports your overall protocol. If your practitioner has specific requirements for your removal or replacement schedule, we’ll work within those parameters.
